FM05TX (FMPLL)
FM05TXNV is an FM PLL radio broadcast board for educational or similar use that offers improved performance over the previous popular version (e.g., better audio quality, adjustable RF out power, easier frequency selection using only four keys, lower profile to fit 1U rack mount enclosures, etc.). The previous version is no longer available. You connect audio and send it wirelessly (using whip antenna, distance varies with surrounding conditions, guaranteed output 1W minimum over the entire band). FULL BROADBAND DESIGN, no variable caps to adjust! Reception is on a regular FM radio set anywhere from 87.5MHz to 108MHz (special model for 76-90MHz Japanese band also available) and minimum step of 10KHz.
It has two audio inputs: one adjustable-level balanced input pre-amped with 50usec or 75usec pre-emphasis (depending on country) for mono modulation, and one without pre-emphasis for stereo multiplexed signals. Thru it, it can be modulated with a stereo generator signal for excellent quality stereo broadcasts.
You can change the broadcast frequency on the fly using incremental speed tuning. Just press the UP or DOWN button to go up or down the frequencies. After ENTER is pressed the PLL is re-programmed and the new transmission frequency is displayed for about 15 seconds before the 5-digit LED display goes out to minimize power consumption. The power-on frequency can be saved to the built-in non-volatile memory at the press of a key.
The unit meets all FCC and CCIR requirements for FM transmitters. It has an excellent spectral purity with harmonics rejection better than -64dBc as can be seen in the Spectrum Analyser, spurious output better than -80dBc (NV is practically undetectable even at 100dB spectrum analyser), and accuracy of the VCO lock-on frequency of +/- 300Hz. RF output is disabled when PLL is unlocked. You can also manually turn the RF output on/off.
On-board double-directional coupler provides FORWARD POWER and VSWR signals that can be connected to measurement instruments or to drive logic for automatic protection or control of the PLL and/or possible next-in-line circuits.
A stereo encoder is available seperately.
